Road Works and Community Employment Schemes Ancillary Safety Statement

This Road Works and Community Employment Schemes Ancillary Safety Statement has been prepared by Wexford County Council to comply with its obligations under the Safety, Health and Welfare At Work Act, 2005, the Safety, Health and Welfare At Work (General Application) Regulations, 2007 and the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2006.

The legislation requires Wexford County Council to prepare and issue a Safety Statement setting out its policy on safety. This compilation of Management Policy, Risk Assessment, Responsibility Allocation and Consultation Procedures is collectively known as the Corporate Safety Statement.

Details of safety arrangements applying to specific sections/work areas and activities are contained in Ancillary Safety Statements, such as this document, which has been prepared in consultation with Roads Department staff.

This Ancillary Safety Statement will be disseminated to staff and copies will be located in relevant work areas.

This Ancillary Safety Statement will be reviewed on an annual basis. Reviews may also take place on an ad hoc basis, if specific circumstances demand it. Identification of hazards and risks is ongoing.

Every employee has the right to make representations to his/her employer on matters of safety, health and welfare at his/her place of work. The employer is also obliged to consult employees on the same matters.
