Planning Department

The Planning Office is located in Block B at County Hall, Carricklawn, Wexford.  The office is open to the public Monday to Friday from 9.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. and 2.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. daily.  Contact our office by phoning 053 9196101 or by emailing us at

Planning Applications

The Planning Authority is required to maintain a register of planning applications and planning decisions.  All documents received from the applicant by the Planning Authority in respect of a planning application are available for inspection by the public.


Development Plans

The Planning Authority is required to make a Development Plan every six years.  The Development Plan sets out a vision and an overall strategy for the proper planning and sustainable development of the area of the Development Plan.  It comprises of a written statement and a plan or plans indicating the development objectives for the area in question.  Development Plans have been made for County Wexford, Wexford Town and Environs, Enniscorthy Town and Environs and New Ross Town and Environs.

Local Area Plans

A Local Area Plan may be prepared in respect of any area which the Planning Authority considers suitable and, in particular, for those areas which require economic, physical and social renewal and for areas likely to be subject to large scale development.  The policies or objectives contained in a Local Area Plan must be considered with the objectives of the County Development Plan.  Local Area Plans are currently in place for Gorey Town and Environs, Courtown and Riverchapel, Ferns, Bunclody, Clonroche, Taghmon and Rosslare Harbour and Kilrane.
