Want to do more with your digital camera? Sign up for this two-part introductory course which will explain about different types of digital cameras; using card readers and moving photos to your computer; websites for storing, sharing and editing your photos; give a brief introduction to Adobe Photoshop; remove blemishes and basic airbrushing; sharpening images for print; resizing images to suit one-hour processing and using templates to create your own calendars, cards etc.
You must be available to attend on both dates of this twp-part course.

Wednesday, 1st February at 1.00pm - Bunclody Library - 2nd visit for 2012 of FDYS / VEC Traveller group to avail of Library computer facilities and be instructed in the use of Library catalogue.
Thursday 2nd & 9th February at 4.00pm - Bunclody Library -At the foot of Mount Leinster – Traditional Singing Initiative
Children from 4th - 6th class are invited to take part in the series of six traditional song workshops which will begin on February 2nd. Participants will be introduced to a broad repertoire of traditional songs: love songs, working songs, songs of war and songs of complete nonsense!
Places are limited so call in and pick up a booking form and return it to Bunclody Library.
Thursday 2nd , 9th & 16th February at 7.00pm - Bunclody Library - At the foot of Mount Leinster -Traditional singer Aileen Lambert is inviting Adults and teenagers to a Traditional Singing Session and Project Information Session. Come along on the 2nd and hear a few songs followed by tea and coffee, Aileen will provide more details on an upcoming Traditional Singing project which you may be interested in getting involved in, this project will start on the 9th.

Friday, 3rd February - 10.30 & 11.45 -Wexford Town Library - Author Reading - Across the Divide - Brian Gallagher
This book tells the story of an unlikely friendship between a girl and a boy from two very different backgrounds. One family is involved in the trade union movement and the other family are business owners. The events of 1913 Lockout are portrayed through the lives of these two characters. The book presents both sides of the argument to the reader. We get an insight into how the events of the lockout affected personal relationships, friendships and divided loyalties.

Irish History Live, Titanic 100 roadshow with Michael Moylan.
Local school groups have booked to attend this event. It is an interactive and educational workshop on the history of the Titanic featuring its construction and disaster, crew and passengers, clothes and facilities on deck and below , replica models and discussion on the sinking.
Friday 10th February – All Day – Wexford Town Library - Irish History Live Titanic 100 roadshow with Michael Moylan
Let the Museum come to you! Local school groups will attend this interactive and educational workshop on the history of the Titanic. This event is organised by Wexford Library Services as part of the One Book One Wexford project.
Tuesday, 14 Feb. at 7.30pm - New Ross Library - GROW Introduces "Your Mental Health & Caring for it".
This talk by Maurene Howell, from mental health organisation GROW, will comprise a brief introduction to GROW; understanding & accepting your mental health; why change is necessary for recovery & growth and how to access GROW support & community education programs locally. The quality of your mental health affects the quality of your life. Maurene Howell, South East Area Co-ordinator for GROW will talk about caring for your mental health. Learn about mental health, awaken your own resources and access help in coping with anxiety, depression, isolation and other life difficulties.

On Thursday, 16th February at 7.30pm - Enniscorthy Library - Author Visit - Jackie Hayden
will give a talk about his book My Boy-the story of Phil Lynnott . Jackie Hayden has to date published ten books, the latest of which is My Boy, the story of the late Irish rock star Philip Lynott of Thin Lizzy which he wrote based on over 100 hours of interviews with Lynott’s mother Philomena. The book spent six weeks at number one on the Irish non-fiction charts in 2011 and has recently been published as an e-book

Saturday 18th February - Craft Gallery - Gorey Civic Offices and Library - A Weaving workshop with Terry The Weaver.Terry Dunne, one of Ireland 's leading tapestry and rug weavers from Cullens Cross, Woodgraigue, Duncormick will give a weaving workshop for 10 people.

From Tuesday 31st January at 7.00pm through February- Gorey Library - Endings and Beginnings - Dr Gerard Dineen
This literary reading course should not be missed by those who love the writings of Oscar Wilde and James Joyce. It offers an opportunity to read and discuss Dracula by Bram Stoker and to remind you of a prolific writer who is now somewhat forgotten, George A Birmingham.
It’s a five week course and places must be booked in advance.

Deirdre will meet with a group of Adult Learners from the local VTOS centre to both tell and share stories in an interactive session.

The experiment that caused all the trouble. Uncertainty - How to borrow an unlimited amount and get away with it. Learn about Schrodinger's undead cat, Einstein's objection to God playing dice and the Alice in Wonderland world of Quantum Reality.

Well known author and broadcaster Christy Kenneally will give a reading and a signing from his book The Betrayed. This is the first in a triology of books published by Hachette Books.

A fun interactive event for children with Eamonn Nolan, engineer, explaining some of the principles of engineering in an easy to understand way.

Wednesday February 29that 7:00 pm - Wexford Town Library - Three Irish Physicists - a lecture with Brendan Wallace, Consultant Engineer
George Fitzgerald and the rescue attempt for the lost Lumineferous Ether. Ernest Walton, Ireland's only Nobel Physics winner builds the first artificial atom splitter and visits Wexford. John Bell finds a way to prove that Einstein's sensible idea doesn't work.

Thursday, March 1st at 7.30pm - Enniscorthy Library - Make your Will- a talk by Jason Dunne solicitor, author and well known

This talk will enable those who have not made a will so far or who wish to update one to do so. Wills are important and Jason will show you why this is so. He will advise people on what to do with their estate and demystify the process of making a will which will avoid stress and worry for your relations. Jason Dunne is a solicitor with over twenty years experience in the legal profession. He deals with wills, probate, related litigation and tax issues for clients in Ireland and abroad.
Admission to this talk is free and everyone is welcome.

Exhibitions
Wexford 1911 Lockout- Memorabilia Exhibition
To commemorate the centenary of the Wexford 1911 Lock Out, Wexford Town Library will host an exhibition of memorabilia from Wednesday 25th January to Wednesday 8th February 2012. The 1911 Lockout, a turbulent time in the history of Wexford Town lasted for approximately 6 months, ending in February 1912.
The 1911 Commemorative Committee is asking anyone with memorabilia from this time to lend these items for the display in Wexford Town Library. Examples of items required are photos, letters, addresses, ledgers, diaries, posters, badges, flags, banners, artefacts made in the foundries, advertisements for Pierces Foundry, The Star and Selskar Ironworks etc.
Please bring the paper-based items to Wexford Town Library, McCauley’s car park, Redmond Square. The library can photocopy the originals and immediately return them. Larger items can be collected by the Commemorative Committee.

Mapping Urban Ireland: an exhibition of historical maps of Irish cities and towns

Wexford Town Library 15th – 24th February.
This exhibition is an initiative of the Royal Irish Academy Library and the Irish Historic Towns Atlas Project. The Irish Historic Towns Atlas project was established in 1981. The aim of the project is to record the topographical development of a selection of Irish towns both large and small. Each town is published separately as a fascicle or folder and includes a series of maps complemented by a detailed text section.
Selected maps from the Atlas will be displayed in the exhibition. Towns for which an Irish Historic Towns Atlas has been published include Kilkenny, Dublin, Belfast, Derry, Kildare, Mullingar, Athlone and many more.
