Summary: Aidan Wallace was the eldest of eight children. His father was a farmer. His mother did most of the milking but Aidan recalls milking cows when he was eight years old. His father started growing tomatoes in 1949 and had an acre of glasshouses. Aidan talks of the work involved. He was taught by nuns and says he “hated school”. He became a boarder in St. Peter’s College in Wexford at £60 a year where there was “a lot of bullying”. Aidan talks of the effect the Fethard Boycott, had on the area and believes that few people know the “true story” behind the boycott. He completed a radio officer’s course and went to London for two years where he worked for Decca Radar. Aidan returned to Wexford where he continues to farm today.
