Place of Birth: Gurteenminogue, Murrintown, Co. Wexford

Summary: Bernie Radford was one of 7 children. His parents were farmers and his father was also a cattle dealer. In 1954 his father bought a milk round and Bernie started delivering milk in 1958. He continued to deliver milk to customers in Wexford for the next 42 years. He talks of the changes that took place during that time. Bernie remembers the days before milk was pasteurised when it was possible to catch TB from ‘raw’ milk. Hurling was a favourite sport and he recalls the time he played in Croke Park and how the style of playing has changed over the years. Another great passion is ‘mumming’ and he talks of the formation of the Drinagh Mummers. Bernie recites an example of one of his own introductions to a mumming performance.
