Summary: Kevin Prendergast has lived all his life in the Kilmuckridge area of Co. Wexford and has happy childhood memories of hot summers, wholesome home-grown food and plenty of hard work on the family farm. In 1952 Kevin started working for the Creamery at Inch. For the first few years he drove a lorry collecting milk churns from roadside collection points outside farms. This also involved testing the milk for freshness and quality. He remembers buying his first driving licence for 2s/6d and no test was required at the time! Kevin eventually took charge of the Creamery working seven days a week and was completely familiar with all their 994 suppliers around the county. Kevin’s grandfather was a great horseman and passed his enthusiasm on to his grandson. Kevin would often follow the local hunt to show off a particular horse in the hope of making a sale.
