Summary: Ronnie Plant grew up in Ballinlug, the son of a farmer. He was a “bookworm” and, aged 5, would visit a neighbour’s house to read the Ireland’s Own. Ronnie was interested in athletics and took up running in 1946, often cycling 40 to 50 miles to take part in sports events. He won many county titles and recalls winning 2 all-Ireland medals at an event in New Ross. Ronnie was also an active member of the local defence forces. He moved to England looking for work and found himself helping in the construction of parts of London’s expanding underground system. He remained in the UK for the rest of his working life and, while in his sixties, spent almost 6 years helping to build the Channel Tunnel. He is passionate about helping people develop healthier lifestyles and his book Heath is Wealth is based on a lifetime of research. He is very concerned about the additives in modern foodstuffs. Ronnie is working on another book on healthy living.
