Summary: When Ogie Nolan was born he was brought home across Enniscorthy bridge under a flag of truce because of Civil War fighting in the town! He continues to live in the house where his father set up business as a saddler. Ogie served his time as a saddler and cobbler and was “happy in the business”. He retired aged 78. During WW2 he became an air-raid warden and joined the LDF. He recalls the businesses and families he knew in Enniscorthy and describes the work of the saddlery. For many years Ogie has been involved with the Catholic Workmen’s Club – women are still not allowed to join! He is a skilled bridge player and plays on a regular basis.
