Part 1
Part 2
Date of Birth: 7th April 1928
Place of Birth: Coolree, Ballindaggin, Co. Wexford
Date Interviewed: 21st May 2010
Summary: Owen Murphy spent his first ten years growing up in Coolree and describes what life was like in the area. He talks of his supernatural experiences. One day, aged six, he was chasing butterflies when an “elfish man”, dressed in green with a long cap, came down “in a whirlwind”! Owen studied the little man but when he glanced away the man vanished. Another time he was called out by his father to listen to the banshee wailing – a sure sign of an impending death. The next day they heard of the deaths of two locals on their honeymoon! Owen describes in detail how corn was cut, made into stooks, and stacked when it was dry. In the last part of the interview Owen takes us outside to examine some of the collection of farm implements he has gathered over the years.
