Summary: Peter Miller was born near Rathmacknee castle and remembers the 5 waterwheels, powered by holding ponds, which were on the river that runs through Killinick. He recalls his schooldays and talks of the origin of the Miller name. Peter has always been interested in machinery and, after studying at night in Bolton Street in Dublin, was awarded a certificate in mechanical engineering. He got his first car, a Morris Minor, in 1952. He says that before the driving test was introduced in 1964 it was possible to go to Wexford County Council and buy a licence for £1. Peter has a strong passion for vintage machinery – particularly motorbikes. His earliest bike was a 1911 Rudge. He also had a 1913 Hudson. This interest led to Peter and his wife Hazel getting involved in events and tours in this country and abroad. Peter is also involved with the society which runs the Agricultural Museum at Johnstown Castle.
