Summary: Dan McLean grew up on a small farm in Myshall, Co. Carlow, the youngest of six children. He was still only thirteen when he started his first job. Having learned the retail trade with various different businesses he eventually joined Bunclody Farmers Co-Op in 1963 where he worked until his retirement in 1996. During those years he became Branch Manager of the Co-Op, a position he retained when the company was taken over by Wexford Farmers Co-Op in the early 1980’s. During his lifetime Dan has seen Bunclody grow from a quiet village to the thriving small town it is today. He keeps active during his retirement by involving himself in many voluntary organisations.
