Summary: Tim Holland was born in Co. Cork and lived there until he was 22. He started work in Wexford for the Dept. of Agriculture on the 6th January 1943 and spent 15 years based in Gorey. He used to travel about 120 miles a week on his bike visiting farms. His job was to approve grants for scrub removal, drainage and fencing. He recalls the bad summer of 1946 when Gorey town crier George Dixon would ring his bell calling townspeople to help with the harvest. Tim’s passion is sport and he has attended many finals in Croke Park over the years and has a fine collection of programmes from each game.
