Summary: John Furlong’s parents had a small farm a couple of miles from Kilmuckridge and John lived there until he was 22. He helped out on the farm and the dry, sandy soil was good for early potatoes. He remembers the ‘bathers’ visiting during the summer months and staying in local guesthouses. He and his friends would spend those sunny summers on the nearby beach playing sports and swimming. John’s great interest is music and he continues to collect songs and ballads from around the country. He introduces us to some of his own compositions and recounts the stories behind the songs. The Lost Fisherman of Tinnaberna is a haunting ballad of a terrible local tragedy.
