Part 2

Place of Birth: Blackstoops, Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford
Date Interviewed: 2nd June 2010
Summary: Sean Browne was the youngest of three brothers and grew up in Blackstoops, one mile outside of Enniscorthy town. Although people had very little then Sean feels it was “a glorious time”, especially if you were a hurling fan. Names like Rackard, Morrissey and Wheeler made Wexford a team apart. He found school very enjoyable and had some “brilliant teachers”, but you were “lucky to get through school without meeting some madmen”. After hurling Sean’s next great love was politics and he greatly admired his uncle Sean Browne T.D. When he moved to Dublin to work for a large multi-national company he continued his political work. Once when Sean tried to speed up the process at a candidate selection meeting he was approached by Fianna Fail leader C.J. Haughey who agreed with him and said “there’s a lot to be said for a dictatorship”! At one point he was asked to consider standing for election and, although he would have loved the opportunity, had to refuse because he did not want to give up a successful career.
