The main responsibilities of each of the other sections in the Finance Function are set out below.
Insurable Risk Management
This role involves the identification, evaluation, and control of insurable risks and the handling of resulting claims with the dual objectives of ensuring public and employee safety and minimising the Council’s exposure to risk.
Rates Department
This department is responsible for keeping the valuation records of the county up to date, the generation of Demands for Rates and the Entry Year Levy. The department liases with the Credit Control department with a view to ensuring maximum collection is achieved for Rates.
Credit Control
The Credit Control Unit has now been established as a countywide debt recovery service for the local authorities in the county.
Water Service Charges
This function is responsible for the management of a database of non-domestic customers who avail of the Council’s water supply and sewerage services infrastructure and for the billing and collection of the appropriate charges in this regard.
Under government policy, Wexford County Council is required to charge the non-domestic customers for water services in order to recover the full cost of providing water services to the non-domestic sector.
