Probable Sites
General Description
Holmestown
The Holmestown site is located approximately 400m north of the N25, 6km west of Wexford town. Access to the site is via a County road. The site is well screened and comprises mature forestry, mainly coniferous. Any developments would require harvesting of sections of the forest to provide sufficient area for cell development. The terrain is undulating though the main section of the site is located in a hollow north of an initial rise at the entrance lane. On-site drainage is to the north. The existing junction with the N25 would require significant upgrading in the interest of safety both to local traffic and users of the N25.
Cools
The Cools site comprises an extensive area of mature coniferous forestry, 300m south of the R738, approximately 6km west of Wexford town. Access to the site would be achieved via a new entrance across pastureland which separates the site from the R778. The site would be screened entirely by the forestry plantation. Drainage through the site is to the north and east.
Newbridge Wood
The site is located approximately 3km north of Camolin off the N11. Access is via a County Road off the N11. The site comprises an extensive area of partially felled coniferous forestry. Although partial felling has occurred, the extent of the site ensures that sufficient screening remains. Subsoil comprises red/brown silty clay (glacial till). Slately bedrock (mudstone) appears close to the surface at same location within the site.
Ownership
All of the above sites are owned by Coillte Teoranta.

Recommendations
It is recommended that further investigation be carried out on sites 4, 9 and 21 to determine whether one of the three should be subjected to a full environmental impact assessment with a view to establishing a central waste management facility for County Wexford.
