The third Annual Irish Sports Monitor Report, for the year 2009, is published today by the Irish Sports Council. The report, written by the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) on behalf of the Council, measures adult participation in sport and physical activity and compares it with the previously published information from 2007 & 2008.

The Federation of Irish Sport submitted briefing notes on Irish Sport to the Fine Gael, Labour Leaders and negotiating teams last Wednesday 9th February 2011. These notes highlight the positive contribution Irish sport does and can deliver for Ireland to public health, the economy, tourism, our communities not to mention the positive image of Ireland it generates at home and abroad. There are not many areas of Government spending that deliver a return of €149 on every €100 invested! See attached
