Gorey Showgrounds

Gorey Showgrounds is a public amenity for the people of Gorey and surrounds to enjoy. The Showgrounds take in almost 10 acres and it is located to the back of Gorey Town Park.  The site was purchased by Wexford County Council in 2008.  At the moment there are two full sizes pitches, some smaller playing areas and a clubhouse with two dressing rooms on site.

Wexford County Council is developing a long term plan for the future of the Showgrounds.  The Council will secure funding from a range of sources to develop a multi-use sports and community complex which will include an outdoor all weather area.

As the site adjoins Gorey Town Park there will be an opportunity to reinvigorate the Park the overall landscape and ensure that the entire site provides a good mix of pleasant amenity spaces and games areas.

The development plan for the site will reflect the recreational needs of the wider community.  It will also consider the requirements of those who currently use the facility and clubs who would like to use it in the future.  Draft plans will be on display shortly – watch this space for details.

The Showgrounds is currently used under licence by Gorey Rangers F.C, Gorey Athletics Club and Gorey Ladies Hockey Club. Please note that use of these pitches is strictly confined to clubs/groups who have written permission from Wexford County Council.
