County Wexford Community Arts Network

The County Wexford Community Arts Network was established in January 2006 following a strategic review of the Summer Fun programme. Summer Fun was an initiative aimed at providing easy and inclusive access to the arts and created an opportunity for young people to interact with artists and participate in and engage with high quality arts and cultural activities in their own local community. The programme ran from 1995 – 2005.

In ensuring that the achievements of Summer Fun could enjoy long term and lasting benefits into the future, the project has now been re-branded and re-developed into the County Wexford Community Arts Network (CWCAN). This has been informed by Wexford County Council’s five year Arts Plan Ó neart go neart. CWCAN comprises of three areas of development:

  • Capacity Building Programmes for Artists & Communities through the Arts & Cultural Sector of County Wexford Community Forum
  • Direct funding supports to communities to run community arts programmes – both short term and long term
  • A direct link for projects within the County Arts Programme to outreach into communities throughout the county.
