Down To Earth

Description of Art Alongside Project 2003-2004

The 2003-2004 project was entitled Down to Earth. This project explored earth materials, textures, tactile qualities, colours, the earth itself, landscapes, the environment, maps, fossils, shoes, and each person's own connection to the earth,

Both artists facilitated the exploration of this theme through paint, drawing, photography, clay, plaster, papier-mache, and materials collected from the environment.

A selection of work from each school was shown in the county-wide exhibition at Wexford Arts Centre June 2004. The children's artwork was exhibited alongside works of professional artists on the same theme selected from the Irish Museum of Modern Art Collection.

The Exhibition

The exhibition opened during the second week in June. This exhibition links Art Alongside with the Irish Museum of Modern Art National Programme.
