Two by Two
Two by Two, a national exhibition of work by professional artists, was brought to Wexford Arts Centre. The Ark Children’s Cultural Centre in Temple Bar commissioned nine artists to produce a piece for this exhibition, which is of world class quality, and deeply appealing to adults and children alike. All children participating in their own ‘ark’ project attended this exhibition.Children from extremely rural areas were able to enjoy a high quality, national exhibition in their own county.
For the vast majority of children this was their first experience of an art exhibition, and their first visit to the Wexford Arts Centre.
A very accessible link was provided for the children between their own work and the work of the artists. Project artists, Mary Claire O’Brien and Helen Robbins each produced a piece of work for the exhibition, and this was shown alongside the 9 Two by Two artists. Children were able to see the project artists’ work in progress.
360 children participated in both parts of this project. In addition,
290 children who had not participated in their own Ark project attended the Two by Two exhibition.
A further 150 adults from the Wexford area also visited the exhibition.
